The Sahabah Pursued Knowledge Alongside Business
That was never the mindset of the Sahabah (رضي الله عنهم).
'Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) was a merchant, yet he refused to let business become an excuse for ignorance. He said:
"I had a neighbor from the Ansar in Banu Umayyah ibn Zayd, and we used to take turns visiting the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم). He would go one day and I would go another day. When I went, I would bring him the news of that day and whatever had been revealed, and when he went, he would do the same for me."

They formed a partnership in knowledge.
Neither waited for knowledge to come to him.
They went towards it.
Make Seeking Knowledge Part of Your Routine
Today, we schedule meetings, client calls, and sales targets months in advance.
But many Muslims have no schedule for seeking knowledge at all.
Then they wonder why they cannot distinguish between halal and haram in contracts, financing, partnerships, marketing, or sales.
The Ummah does not need entrepreneurs who only know business, even though business knowledge is very important too.
It needs entrepreneurs who know enough of their religion to ensure that every business decision is one that pleases Allah (سبحانه وتعالى).
What would change in our businesses if we pursued Islamic knowledge with the same discipline that we pursue revenue?
