You cannot build the Ummah on riba and then wonder where the barakah went. Some masajid are being built using conventional bank loans. This forces us to ask a difficult question about foundations.
If we build our masajid, schools, markets, charities, and institutions on foundations that Allah سبحانه وتعالى has forbidden, what exactly are we expecting to grow from them?
Many Muslims speak about reviving the Ummah. Many speak about building communities. Many speak about solving our problems. Yet we often search for solutions using the same systems that contributed to our weakness in the first place.

Purity of earnings and acceptance
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the man who travels long distances, raises his hands to the sky, and says, "O Lord, O Lord," but his food is haram, his drink is haram, his clothing is haram, and he is nourished by haram.
How can his du'a be accepted? If purity of earnings affects the acceptance of an individual's du'a, what happens when entire institutions are established upon impermissible foundations?
A building is more than bricks and concrete
Every institution carries the values upon which it was established. The early Muslims built markets, masajid, schools, and entire civilizations. But they understood that obedience to Allah سبحانه وتعالى was more important than speed.
- Markets built on halal foundations.
- Masajid built without compromise.
- Schools rooted in obedience.
- Civilizations lasting because they were built correctly from the beginning.
Speed through compromise or strength through integrity
The question is not whether we can build faster through compromise. The question is what kind of civilization we are actually building when compromise becomes the foundation.
